Mathematics
Learning maths the Montessori way!
_The mathematical mind consists of perceptions based upon what the children have been exposed to in their environment.
Children are exposed to maths indirectly when they come to the Pre-School. They hear number rhymes such as “One two three four five once I caught a fish alive....”. We encourage them by talking about numbers in terms of time etc. and counting when possible.

_The Practical Life and sensorial prepares children by sorting, matching, grading as well as hand eye co-ordination, concentration and being able to complete a task. These also indirectly prepare children for later maths like one to one correspondence helps them to count and apply sequencing.
_After the children have had practice of counting numbers they then go on to do written symbols using SAND PAPER NUMBERS, this helps them to develop a muscular impression of the number in their mind which helps them to remember, write and recognize the numbers.
